Getting Healthier Through Meditation
Eating right and exercising is not the only things you can do if you want to work on getting healthier. Achieving calmness and total mindfulness are also great ways to be healthy. If you are calm, you will not succumb to stress. It also follows that if your life is stress-free, you will be healthier.
The following are helpful tips in meditation:
1)LOCATION – Meditate in a quite place. Choose a corner of your room. You can also choose a place where you can hear the beautiful sounds of nature. This can be a secluded beach or near the woods where you can hear birds or feel the breeze on your skin.
2)POSTURE – Sitting comfortably is important. You can do the lotus position (legs folded with hands resting on the knees of lap) or just about any other sitting position that is comfortable for you.
3)FOCUS – Rest your eyes lightly on an object. You don’t have to focus fully but keep your eyes open and gaze on one thing. This can be a religious relic or just about anything you can see.
4)DURATION – Ideally, twenty minutes of meditation, twice a day is good. However, this might be difficult for beginners. If you are just starting with this practice, you can do intervals of 5 or10 minutes with breaks on each interval.
